The obstacle course training- things to know




If you are going to participate in an obstacle run competition, here are a few things you need to know:

A good diet is essential 

Food is your fuel, so therefore do not attempt the obstacle course on an empty stomach. The training is quite strenuous. Take diet with high quality carbs, proteins and fats. Make sure you are well hydrated before and after the event. 

Listen to your body 

Make sure you understand the needs of your body. Weather conditions will influence your performance. In hot and humid weather, the fatigue will most likely to take a toll on your recital. You will need more water and electrolytes to keep yourself hydrated and ensure proper intake of sodium and potassium. 

Get your health check-up done 

Meet with your doctor and get yourself properly investigated. He will check you thoroughly to make sure you are fit to undertake the training. It will prevent potential health issues. 

Do not miss your sessions

Make sure you do not miss your sessions. Begin your training at least three months prior to the competition. If you are going to participate in an event for 3 to 10 miles of distance, you must train frequently. You should be training at least three to four days a week for 30 to 60 minutes...

Go slow 

Pace yourself slowly and gradually. During such events your heart rate may go up much quicker and you will feel fatigued very soon. So go slow initially and use your energy and strength gradually.
